An anti-mining priest has been named as new head of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philipines’ National Secretariat for Social Action (NASSA).
The CBCP said Fr. Edwin Gariguez will be executive secretary of the NASSA of the Episcopal Commission on Social Action-Justice and Peace (ECSA-JP).

Education Secretary Jesli Lapus asks candidates to keep politics off public schools.
“I appeal to all politicians to spare the schools from any political propaganda and pressure,” Lapus said.
